Artist Statement
My art is the pursuit of a new planes of existences that exist alongside our own reality. The worlds I strive to construct originate from the imaginative realm that only ever vividly exists within our dreams. A dimension where the inanimate become animate. Rocks speak, trees fly, and buildings dance. This desire originates from watching videos of inanimate objects being personified as something else. I dream of seeing the magic buried in the subconscious be brought forward for the conscious to see clearly.
The process I use during my art process is to not idle too long on a thought and just create something. If the artwork isn’t what I originally envisioned in my head, I would reflect on it a lot before trying again. My ideas remain flexible and can easily change during my development process. I’ll never discover the hidden oasis if my mind doesn’t start venturing somewhere and that road is rarely ever straight.
I commonly steer towards the mediums of video games, video, and 3D modeling to achieve the desired experience of touching the allusive worlds. I wish to see these worlds in real-time in order to immerse oneself in the imaginative environment as closely as possible and manipulate world physics that aren't feasible in reality. The artist Leandro Erlich inspires me greatly for how he uses reflections and perspective to question the view of reality. I hope to create an artwork that builds a reality that embodies the idea of the sublime from the Romanticism movement, invoking feelings that can’t be put into words.
